Best Luau on Kauai

  • I will be on the Island of Kauai at the Marriott property in the beginning of April and I am looking for excellent luau recommendations.


  • Royal Kona Resort is on the Big Island, not Kauai. We did attend it 2 years ago and it was very good. I think I'll skip the ones on Kauai.

  • My wife and I were in Kaui 3 years ago and stayed at the Marriott and it is an awesome property with an oustanding pool, beach, and tropical grounds. The golf is great as well....You will love it.

    As for the Luaus, we went to Smith's (sounds Hawaiian,lol) and we had a great time. This was the only one we went to on the island though. Here is the link...

    We're trying to decide between Smith's, Hyatt and the Princeville for when we go in February. I think we're going to go to Smith's.
    Do NOT go to Coconut Beach's luau-it was terrible! My best friend got married on Kauai last year and thought it would be fun to have her rehearsal dinner at a luau. We went there and it was cheesy and very poorly organized, IMHO. I've been to several luaus on different islands, but this was the worst. Don't waste your money at this one. The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook agrees, in case you wanted another opinion.
    We're also staying at Waiohai, so I'm interested to hear your trip report when you return! I'm jealous that you are going so soon!

  • The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook (great book and highly recommended) has the lu'au at Smith's Tropical Paradise (808) 821-6895 as the the best lu'au. The lu'au at the Hyatt is really nice.
