GW Westpac card holders watch out!!!
I got "surveyed" tonight from a marketing company asking about 20 variations on proposed changes to the GW Westpac Visa card - while they said the options are not being implemented they *are* ideas!! options ranged from:
* higher card fee ($49->$149->$249)
* lower FF rate (1FF point/$1.50/$2/$3)
* transaction fees ($0.35/$0.65/$1)
I told them I would close my account if any changes were made and that it sucked they were even considering it.
Last option: "Would you be interested in a Westpac Diners Club Card with a $100 annual fee and 1.5 points/$1 spent" (why? they already have a diners club card that gives 1.5 points and has a lower annual fee I think).
watch out kiddies....
Yet another way in which the AN program is starting to bite us
I want a UA branded credit card darnit!

Unless that was a specific comment "would you close your account?", the comment won't be passed on. Surveys are carefully scripted for the operators, and there's no room for 'free form' comments ... unfortunately.

I actually only use the (gold) card for the free travel insurance (which I have had cause to use and been paid out on) as well as the benefits of a Visa card.
Now that AN's points have been so badly diluted by not offering multi-stop itineraries any more, the only reason I'm using my gold GR Visa is to buy air tickets and have the free travel insurance.
If they put the fees up or reduce the points earning, it will all depend on how much they do it as to whether it's worth keeping the card at all. Transaction fees wouldn't worry me, since I'll just be doing a couple of very large transactions a year on it now.
"I would use my card more / less / the same"
On reflection, it is the banks that are prob. screwing us (Westpac in this case) more than AN.

I have both Westpac GR card and Diners Club cards. I prefer to use Diners wherever I can due to the 1.5 points credit per dollar. The Westpac card is only for backup where merchants don't accept Diners. Apart from that there's very little benefit in the Westpac card.
I would also consider closing my account if any of the ideas above were implemented.
