Hard side Garment bags versus normal luggage

  • I will be starting to check my bags on future flights so checking into luggage I can check that the airlines will not destroy. I looked at the Briggs http://www.briggs-riley.com/travel/garmentbags/315_wheeledwardrobe.asp this weekend. I have two questions if packing shirts and slacks and 1 jacket can you fit a weeks worth of clothes in it without cramming them in: 6 slacks 6 dress shirts, 2 pair of levis and couple of t shirts? Since the shirts will lay flat will the garment bag keep them from getting wrinkled?

I was leaning towards Briggs- Riley due to the guarantee and since I will be checking it I figured I would be needing the bag repaired from time to time.

Let me know any thoughts or better ideas. The reason I will be checking is I have decided to start take my camera with me so the camera bag and laptop bag will count as two bags.

    Thanks,

    Jim

  • I have a hardsided delsey and an expandable delsey softsided case. I love both and they have both served me exceptionally well. I was recently told that Delsey has dropped the quality in their bags quite a lot. However, my hardsided bag is my favorite. It is a fantastic suitcase with 4 wheels so no dragging. I just rest my hand on the handle and start walking and it will just follow me along. No weight on my shoulders or pulling.
