One million mile status
Given that they are now in competition with the world and as AC competes directly against US airlines it would be nice to see some sort of this recognition.
Any inside rumors? or other thoughts?

FewMiles..
But after three years of travel at that pace, obviously I slowed down considerably. Also worth knowing: discounted economy travel earned the full 100% and full fare economy got 25% bonus, first was 50%. Shortly thereafter, business class was introduced, and the rollbacks started with discount economy getting 50% of miles flown, full fare 100% and business took over the 25% bonus. First was soon eliminated from domestic flights.
And, yes AC did charge $25 a year, but the annual fee was waived for its enRoute Club members (see my previous posting about the DinersenRoute card for that bit of history). CP Air's was free. At one time Prestige actually meant something, but that didn't last too long.
As for ward inflation: 4 J-class award tickets to Asia would be 400,000 points today. Add another 50K+ for the hotel and yet another 50K+ for the car (awards which really don't exist any longer) and you are looking at half a million points today for an award that went for 140,000 points back then! And you earned, with so many bonuses, etc. 2 to 3 times as many points for each trip. And hote ls and cars were 1,000 points a stay or rental each.
I look forward to seeing more on these levels. I guess I should check my CP and AC years to date Q miles, before the two programs are merged!
Thanks again!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Sorry I can't post a link - I do not know how. Can any body help me on that score?
FewMiles..
I have had it confirmed that CP gave Lifetime Executive Platinum to their million flight milers as a "thank you".
(Note that you qualify with Q-miles/points or actual flight miles/points, but not with other credits to your account.)
So the question becomes, will this number of Lifetimers increase significantly when Canadian Plus is merged with Aeroplan in January? And will the "thank you" still be Super Elite? I raise this for I am quite sure that there are many like myself who will have achieved that threshold with our merged accounts, though separately we are slightly more or less than half way there in each program.
I suspect I may be one of the few posters to FlyerTalk who was a member of both programs since they started back in the summer of 1984. (Something good came out of that prophetic date.) In preparing for my move last month, I came across the original membership kits for both Aeroplan and Canadian Plus (then known as the CP Air Travel Bonus Program). And all the statements I received since they first started coming in August of that same year.
As an interesting aside, I earned 158,149 miles in Aeroplan that first year (with 70,813 of these being pure flight miles, without class of service bonus). So had it existed, I'd have achieved Super Elite since most of my flights were in F-class which offered a 50% c-o-s bonus for Q-miles). In that same first year of the CP Air Travel Bonus Program, I earned 215,534 points based on 98,466 flight miles and 143,082 with c-o-s bonuses.
I can hardly believe these numbers myself, but looking through those old statements, the bonuses we were given back then were quite extraordinary. For example, on an Attaché class flight between YYZ-YHZ, the base miles were 799, c-o-s bonus was 280, and there was a regional Atlantic bonus of 4,000 per flight for a total of 10,000 points in all for a business class return flight! And on the redemption side of things, 140,000 points got four (4) Royal Canadian Class (business) tickets anywhere CP flew! Plus a week in a suite at a CP or Delta hotel. Plus a week rental of a luxury car from Tilden (National).
Those indeed were the days.
I also discovered a brief I presented to the Canadian Transport Commission back in March of 1984, at hearings held to consider permitting Canada's airlines to offer frequent flyer programs. Of course, I argued in favour of approving these programs based on my experience with AA's and Western Airline's programs which had been going for a couple of years by then. Of note: both AC and CP Air argued against such programs, but within days of the CTC approving them, both carriers launched their respective versions.
Aeroplan was first, though announced only a few days before CP Air's Travel Bonus Program. And within days of CP's announcement, AC had to revise their award chart since CP's program was far more generous (as you can see from that top award).
Sorry to ramble on, but you must indulge an old timer like me from time to time.
